If you're driving on icy roads, it's important to know how to correct a slide. There are three techniques:

1) counter-steer;

2) drift and steer;

3) power steering. Let's take a look at each one in detail.

1) COUNTER-STEER

Turning a corner on slippery ice can be challenging because you may lose control of the steering wheel when trying to make your vehicle follow the direction the road is taking. To correct this, turn in the opposite direction of where you want to go; for example, if you need to make a left turn, you need to steer right.

2) DRIFT AND STEER

Drifting on icy roads can be used in conjunction with counter-steering, as it assists steering and corrects slides.

3) POWER STEERING

If you're already sliding and not in control of your vehicle, power steering can be used to help steer. Turn the wheel in the direction that you want to go and use momentum to slide your vehicle towards where you need it to go.
